Happy Pacific Fleet Day: beautiful postcards and heartfelt greetings

Every year on May 21, Russia celebrates the Day of the Pacific Fleet, a holiday of one of the oldest military units in the country. In 2025, the celebration falls on a Wednesday. Izvestia has prepared postcards and greetings for this significant date.

The day of the Pacific Fleet is celebrated by the whole of Russia, but especially magnificent celebrations are held in the home port of this military unit — in Vladivostok. In honor of the holiday, St. Andrew's flags are hoisted on ships, sailors put on their dress uniforms. Solemn formations are held on the decks with the awarding of soldiers who distinguished themselves in the service.

Also on this day, the military, residents of the city and officials pay tribute to the fallen sailors. Traditionally, the rally is held at the memorial "Military Glory of the Pacific Fleet". Participants lay flowers and wreaths at the Eternal Flame, and a memorial service is held in the nearby chapel.

In addition, an unusual competition is organized on the holiday — a race on a yawl. These are small boats that every sailor should be able to operate, even if they serve on a submarine. The winner of the swim gets the Pacific Fleet Commander's Cup.
