At the end of April, Orthodox believers celebrate two major holidays — Lazarus Saturday and Palm Sunday, which precede Easter. Christians always greet these celebrations with joy in their hearts, sending bright congratulations to each other. Izvestia tells us when the celebrations will take place in 2024 and how to congratulate your loved ones.

Lazareva Saturday — 2025: postcards and holiday greetings

Lazarus Saturday is the day before Palm Sunday, when they remember the resurrection of the righteous Lazarus by Jesus. This miraculous event is described in the Gospel of John.

The Scriptures say that Lazarus lived with his sisters in the village of Bethany near Jerusalem. Having met Christ, he became like-minded with him. The Savior often visited his family and called him his friend. And when Lazarus died of a serious illness and had already been in the tomb for four days, the Lord raised him from the dead.

After that, Lazarus lived for another 30 years and died at the age of 60 as bishop of Kition, one of the first cities in Cyprus.

In Christianity, the resurrection of Lazarus is considered one of the most iconic miracles performed by Jesus. It was thanks to this event that many came to believe in the Savior. Every year, the Church glorifies this miracle of God, thanking the Lord for His great mercy to the human race.

In the Lazarev church calendar, Saturday is traditionally celebrated on the sixth day of the sixth week of Great Lent. In 2024, this holiday will be celebrated on April 27.

Here are some examples of how you can wish a happy holiday.:

"May the miracle of the resurrection of Saint Lazarus inspire true hope in your heart, and may the light of this wonderful feast fill your soul with blessed peace and joy. May there never be any grief in your life, and the good moments always make you happy. I wish you all the best and the brightest!"

"On Lazarus Saturday, I want to wish that real miracles happen in your life, and illnesses and losses avoid the house. May faith in the Savior and the mercy of our Lord help you to cope with all difficulties, and may luck, happiness and well-being accompany you throughout your earthly life."

"Please accept my kindest and most sincere congratulations on Lazarev Saturday! Just as the righteous Lazarus was resurrected at the behest of Christ, so may the kindest feelings and hopes resurrect in your heart, and there will always be a place for a miracle in your life. I wish you good health and good luck in everything!"
