Muslims have been celebrating Eid al-Adha since the night of March 30. The holiday marks the end of lent and is also known as the feast of thanksgiving. On this day, the prohibitions that Muslims adhered to for a whole month during Ramadan cease to apply. Izvestia has prepared beautiful Eid al-Fitr cards and greetings that can be shared with family and friends.

Eid al-Adha: postcards and pictures of the holiday in 2025

The celebration dates back to the time of the Prophet Muhammad, who is considered its founder. In its meaning, Eid al-Adha, or literally "the feast of the cessation of fasting," is second only to Eid al-Adha, the feast of sacrifice, which will be celebrated in early summer.

The day of Eid al-Adha celebration is associated with the Muslim lunar calendar. Its date changes from year to year. In 2025, Muslims will begin celebrating the end of the fast on the evening of March 30. The holiday will end on the evening of March 31. In some countries, festivities last for three days, and if the day falls in the middle of the week, then until the weekend itself.

In a number of Russian regions, for example, in Tatarstan, Eid al-Adha is officially declared a day off. The holiday is widely celebrated in other republics where many adherents of Islam live, Bashkiria, Adygea, Dagestan, Ingushetia, Karachay-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Chechnya and the Republic of Crimea.

It is customary to celebrate Eid al-Adha in the family circle. The household greets each other with the words "Eid Mubarak!", which translates as "Blessed holiday!". Friends and neighbors often join the feast on the occasion of the end of the fast.

The housewives prepare a wide variety of dishes: pilaf, roast lamb, pies and sweets. After a strict fast, when believers refused even water, on Eid al-Adha, the tables are full of various dishes.

On this day, it is also customary to attend festive worship services, which are held in mosques throughout the day, and perform good deeds, such as giving alms and helping the poor with money or food.

Congratulations on Eid al-Adha: poetry and prose in your own words

Christians and representatives of other faiths living in Russia can also congratulate their fellow countrymen on the Eid al-Adha holiday. On this day, one should wish peace, prosperity, health, strong faith, good thoughts and good deeds.

Here are examples of how you can congratulate in your own words in Russian and Tatar.:

"May your heart be filled with joy, hopes come true, and sorrows be forgotten. May Allah hear your prayers, and the day will be prosperous. Congratulations on the Eid al-Adha holiday!"

("Boten yeraklar shatlyk belan tulsyn, ometlar chynga ashsyn, boten kaigylar onytylsyn. Allah dogalarygyzny kabul itsen, bairam imin bulsyn. Eid baireme belan kotlyyz!").

"I sincerely congratulate you on the Eid al-Adha holiday! May the Almighty hear your prayers and grant His blessing, and wherever you are, you will always and everywhere meet good people."

("Eid gaete bayram belan ikhlastan tabrik itam! Allah sinen kilgan dogalarynny kabul kilip, mul tabynnar ham kaya gina barma gel namusly imanly keshelar gena ochratsin").

"Congratulations on the Eid al-Adha holiday! I wish you from the bottom of my heart to be healthy, happy and not to know grief."

(Eid al-fitr belan kotlyim! Chyn kuneldan sezg telim kaigi khasrat belmaska, salamat ham bakhetle bulyrga).

Congratulations on the holiday can also be written in verse:

On the Great Eid al-Adha holiday
May the Almighty grant you a blessing!
Don't let the light and comfort leave the house,
Prosperity and happiness live in it for a long time.
Have fun celebrating Eid al-Adha —
Long-awaited for all Muslims!
