The solemn finding of the relics of Matrona of Moscow took place on May 2, 1998 at the Danilovsky Cemetery in Moscow. His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia blessed the ceremony. The commission for the opening of the burial was headed by Archbishop Arseny of Istra.

Initially, the remains of the saint were placed in the Danilovsky monastery, and then transferred to the silver tomb on the territory of the Pokrovsky monastery.
