The blind girl was born in the village of Sebino, Epiphany district, Tula province, into a family of simple peasants.
Since childhood, Matrona grew up in humility and faith, devoted herself to prayer and helped people in need. As a teenager, her legs were completely numb. However, despite her physical weakness, Matrona turned to God and became a source of comfort and help for her neighbors.
During her life, Matrona received the gift of clairvoyance — many of her prophecies have come true and continue to come true. The saint's advice and prayers have helped many people, and she has become a source of hope and support for believers. Despite the persecution by the Soviet authorities, Matrona accepted everyone who came to her with requests for help and healing, readily listened and comforted everyone.
Matrona of Moscow died on May 2, 1952. The church canonized the saint in 1997.
The finding of the relics of Matrona of Moscow — the story where they are located
The solemn finding of the relics of Matrona of Moscow took place on May 2, 1998 at the Danilovsky Cemetery in Moscow. His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia blessed the ceremony. The commission for the opening of the burial was headed by Archbishop Arseny of Istra.
