Every summer, World Motorcyclist Day is celebrated in different countries. This holiday is dedicated to all motorcycle enthusiasts and serves as an excellent reason for everyone to ride around the city on an iron horse or participate in motorcycle races. Read about the history of the holiday and when it will be celebrated in 2025 in the Izvestia article.
When is World Motorcyclist Day in 2025
There is no fixed date for World Motorcyclist Day. For many years, it has been celebrated on the third Monday of June. However, last year the celebration was postponed to the second Tuesday in June. Thus, in 2025 it will be held on June 10.
The history of the Motorcyclist's Day holiday
The idea to organize an unofficial campaign for fans of the "iron horses" was announced in May 1992 in American motorcycle magazines. As part of the event, which was called Ride to Work Day, it was proposed to abandon cars for a day and ride around the city exclusively on bikes and scooters.
The main purpose of the demonstration was to draw public attention to the convenience and practicality of motorcycles, which do not take up much space in parking lots, cost less fuel and help to relieve the roads.
The first Ride to Work Day was scheduled for July 22, 1992. The campaign was supported by thematic publications, as well as tire manufacturers and motorcycle accessories. Until 2000, the event was held informally. Then the non-profit organization Ride to Work was created, which took over the legal and organizational support of the holiday.
Gradually, motorcyclists from all over the world began to join the action — from Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Turkey, Russia and other countries. This is how the holiday turned into World Motorcyclist's Day.
World Motorcyclist Day in 2025 in Russia
According to the Autostat agency, more than 2 million motorcycles and motor vehicles are registered in Russia, which is about 4% of the country's total fleet. Therefore, World Motorcyclist Day is an important holiday for many Russians.
On this day, various biker shows and flash mobs are held in Moscow and in many other major cities. Motorcyclists take to the roads with festive marches, gatherings and meetings are organized. Motorcycle clubs also organize events for everyone, and admission is often free.
In addition to bikers, racers, athletes and motorcycle enthusiasts in Russia, motorcycle groups from various departments, such as the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, also congratulate.
Postcards and congratulations on Motorcyclist's Day
The easiest way to congratulate a motorcyclist is to show interest in his hobby. A T-shirt with a themed print, a bandana, helmet cleaning and polishing products or a set of tools are suitable as a gift.
However, the easiest way to wish a happy birthday is to send a greeting card in messengers or social networks. Here are some examples of how to celebrate World Motorcyclist Day on June 10th.:
