In Russia, on the second Saturday of June, Furniture Maker's Day is celebrated — a holiday of specialists who ensure human comfort in everyday life and comfort in the home. In 2025, the celebration falls on June 14th. Izvestia tells us how the holiday appeared among furniture manufacturers and what traditions accompany it.

When is Furniture Maker's Day in 2025

Furniture Maker's Day was initiated by the Russian Association of Furniture and Woodworking Industry Enterprises. This non-profit organization was formed in 1997 due to the desire of its members to join forces in the face of crises in the woodworking industry. It was their enthusiasm that marked the beginning of the creation of a full-fledged professional community in the Russian Federation.

At the beginning of the second decade of the 21st century, representatives of the association made a proposal to establish their own holiday for furniture production workers. The initiative quickly came to fruition, and although the celebration has not yet been officially fixed, every year more and more people join the festive events.

In addition, furniture makers are congratulated the next day — on the second Sunday in June, the Day of Light Industry Workers is celebrated.

In 2025, on June 14, carpenters, assemblers, designers, installers, as well as specialists involved in the manufacture of furniture products — designers, seamstresses, engineers - will be congratulated.

Since the holiday is the prerogative of representatives of the professional environment, events on the occasion of the celebration are also held in narrow circles.

On the holiday, professionals show their products at exhibitions ranging from classics to modern design. They conduct workshops on wood processing and decor creation.

Designers present new collections. Factory tours are conducted, showing modern equipment. Craftsmen compete in the speed and quality of furniture production. Many stores offer holiday discounts.
