In Russia, the Day of Light Industry Workers is celebrated in early summer — a professional holiday for tailors, shoe and furniture manufacturers, as well as employees of chemical and food industries. When is the Day of Light Industry Workers in 2025

The holiday appeared more than forty years ago in Soviet times. The work of workers was highly valued in the country, and practically no profession was ignored at that time. The date for light industry workers was established in 1980 by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR "On holidays and memorable days."

Later, the legislative framework underwent changes more than once, but the day of the holiday remained the same. It is celebrated annually on the second Sunday of June. On the same day, celebrations are held in Belarus, Kazakhstan and other republics of the former Soviet Union.

The holiday is designed to celebrate the contribution of industry representatives to the country's economy and enhance the prestige of light industry professions. As a rule, they include specialists employed in textile, sewing, leather, fur, and shoe enterprises. Therefore, the celebration is often referred to as Tailors' Day. At the same time, garment workers have their own holiday, which is celebrated on February 28.

On the day of the celebration, festive events and feasts are organized for employees. The management of enterprises awards prizes and diplomas to the best employees.
