Planning vacations and hobbies along with work meetings can help reduce the intensity of burnout. On January 12, Izvestia was informed about this by an expert from the NTI Bionic Engineering in Medicine Competence Center at Samara State Medical University (SamSMU), director of the university's Psychology Center, Maryam Akhmerova.

The psychologist noted that data from various analytical sources indicate that from 64 to 80% of Russians experienced emotional burnout in 2022.

"If the first signs are already felt, you need to keep a calendar where the time for rest during the day is clearly spelled out. Most often, all meetings and meetings are marked in the calendar, but there is absolutely no time left for lunch, dinner, hobbies and hobbies. Also, many people continue to rest intellectually after an intellectually difficult job, but at this point it is worth understanding that your brain is not resting, but continues to work," she said.

As an "ambulance" for burnout, the psychologist advised walking and light physical activity. It is also necessary to monitor the level of vitamins B and D, the lack of which can worsen the emotional state.

"If a person does not change their work and life style, then when they stop taking medications, all the symptoms of burnout will return," Akhmerova added.

According to the expert, scientists attribute burnout syndrome to psychophysiological phenomena. It can take the form of physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion, which is caused by prolonged emotional stress.

It is most often encountered by representatives of human–to-human professions related to specialist communication with other people.

"If there are discrepancies between your own contribution to the work and the received or expected remuneration, then the first symptoms of burnout appear. The duration of burnout can vary from a week to a year and a half. As well as the consequences: losing your job or driving yourself to exhaustion, illness," Akhmerova concluded.

In November, Elena Gorina, an expert doctor at the Hemotest laboratory, said that burnout at work leads to depression, gastrointestinal pathologies, and exacerbation of chronic diseases.
