The Edward boat caught fire on the Fontanka River in St. Petersburg. This was announced on August 21 by the North-Western Transport Prosecutor's Office.

"According to preliminary data, on August 21, at about 21:30, the Edward small vessel caught fire in the Fontanka River," the department said in a message on its Telegram channel.

According to the transport prosecutor's office, there were no casualties as a result of the fire. Emergency services are working at the scene of the fire. Later, the department reported that the fire had been eliminated.

The causes and circumstances of the incident are currently being determined.

The Transport Prosecutor's Office has begun checking the compliance of the owners of the boat with the legislation on safety in the operation of water transport.

Earlier, on August 17, a pleasure boat caught fire in the bay of Minosok in Primorsky Krai. As a result of this incident, there were no casualties, but the boat sank.
