The yacht caught fire on the Volga River in the Khvalynsky district of the Saratov region. This was announced on August 16 by the press service of the Western Interregional Investigative Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

It is specified that the incident occurred on the morning of August 16. There were six passengers on board who were able to evacuate on their own. There were no casualties as a result of the incident.

"As a result of the incident, the vessel received significant damage. <...> The amount of damage is being determined," the agency said in a Telegram channel.

Employees of the investigative department conducted an inspection of the scene and began to determine the causes of the yacht's fire.

In the Astrakhan region, on the morning of August 4, one person died as a result of a collision between a tugboat pusher "Rechnoy-81" and a small vessel in the Volga waters near Akhtubinsk. A criminal case has been opened under Part 2 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of the rules of traffic safety and operation of water transport, which negligently caused the death of a person").
